ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s
Cera Mallory and California Baptist’s
Natalia Bedolla have been named the
TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Jan. 21.
Mallory, a freshman, swept both of the freestyle distance races and swam the opening leg in the Trailblazers’ 4x400 free relay in Saturday’s dual win over Idaho. She swam the second-fastest mile in program history (17:05.05 – sixth fastest time in the WAC this season) enroute to her first win of the day, then turned right back around and claimed victory in the 500 free (5:08.98). Mallory closed the meet with an opening 53.37 leg in the 4x400 free relay.
Bedolla, a sophomore, swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter events on Saturday against Grand Canyon. Bedolla tallied 258.68 points in the 1-meter and 306.20 points in the 3-meter, both are NCAA Zone qualifying scores.
