TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Germain Lemaitre and Southern Utah’s Astley Davis have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 21.
 
Lemaitre (So.) competed in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational’s 800-meter race where he finished third overall with a time of 1.49:76 (1:49.15 with altitude adjusted), breaking the Grand Canyon school record. Lemaitre’s time puts him atop of the WAC’s 800-meters leaderboard and sixth place in the national standings.
 
Davis (Sr.) put up a pair of solid finishes at the Lumberjack Team Challenge that ended up placing him on the national leaderboards. Davis currently sits 23rd in the NCAA’s triple jump standings, and first in the WAC, after placing first overall at the meet with a mark of 15.49 meters, which is also a Southern Utah school record. Davis also finished second in the long jump with a mark of 7.52 meters, placing him third in the conference and 45th nationally.
