ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s
Morgan Nokes and Grand Canyon’s
Nicole Prall have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 21.
Nokes (Jr.) continues to etch her name in the Utah Valley history books by following the 2023 WAC Women’s Cross Country Championship with a new school record in the indoor mile run. Nokes placed first overall in the Weber State Invitational mile with a time of 4:55.33 (converted to 4:46.56 for track size and altitude), nearly five seconds better than the second-place finisher. This mile time ranks best in the WAC by ten seconds and is 15
th best in the Mountain Region. Nokes was also part of the distance medley relay team that ran a 12:00.92 (converted to 11:43.32 for track and altitude) which finished first in the meet, ranks top of the charts in the Mountain Region, and is the seventh best DMR time in the country.
Prall (Fr.) competed in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational’s pole vault and placed third overall in a highly competitive field, beating competitors from Texas, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, San Diego State, and New Mexico. Prall was the highest finishing freshman in the event and now holds the best WAC pole vault with a mark of 3.97 meters.
