ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Filipa Barros and Southern Utah’s Ava Uhrich has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Jan. 28.
 
Barros, a sophomore guard, averaged a double-double last week with 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and added 5.5 assists per game in a home sweep against UTRGV and Stephen F. Austin. Barros recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds against UTRGV on Jan. 25. She then tallied 22 points and 12 rebounds against SFA on Jan. 27.
 
Uhrich, a freshman forward, recorded two double-doubles last week averaging 20.5 points and 12.0 rebounds. Uhrich tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds against Tarleton State. She then propelled the Thunderbirds to victory against Abilene Christian with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds. This marks Uhrich's sixth double-double of the season and her fifth in WAC play.
