ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s Dante Teramo and UTRGV’s Emilien Burnel and Sam Whitehead have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Tennis Players of the Week, for the week ending on Monday, Jan. 29.
 
Teramo (So.) earned this week’s Men’s Singles Player of the Week for going 2-0 in the #1 Singles spot, helping the Mavericks collect wins from Prairie View A&M and Southeastern Oklahoma. Teramo cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win against the Panther’s Abdulraheem Isa and took down Southeastern Oklahoma’s Juan Gonzalez with a 10-point tiebreaker in the third set with a final score of 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-4).
 
Burnel (Sr.) and Whitehead (Jr.) take the Men’s Doubles Players of the Week after going 1-1 in the #1 Doubles slot. The pair defeated UTSA’s power duo Alan Magadan/Tomas Pinho 6-3 but fell 6-1 to Etienne Marty/Avery Zavala of the reigning Southland Conference Champion Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.
