ARLINGTON, Texas – UNLV’s George Ratiu and Alex Vazquez have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Jan. 28.

Ratiu, a senior, enjoyed a perfect weekend helping lead the Rebels to a sweep of their double dual versus UC Santa Barbara and Wyoming. Ratiu won both the 50 free (19.84) and 100 free (43.42), while guiding the Rebels to victories in all four relays in the squad’s final home meet of the season (200 medley relay (1:26.18); 400 medley relay (3:10.82); 200 free relay (1:19.07); 400 free relay (2:54.60).

Vazquez, a freshman, made his UNLV home debut with a sweep of first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Vazquez tallied NCAA Zone qualifying scores on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards. He won the 1-meter with a 301.50 and the 3-meter with a 367.20.
