ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s
Daviciea McCartney and UT Arlington’s
Brady Shadrick have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 28.
McCartney (Sr.) competed in two events at the New Mexico Team Open that landed him in the top 50 of national rankings. McCartney ran a 47.07 400m (converted from 46.96 for altitude), putting him second in the WAC and 34
th in the country. McCartney also competed in the 60m hurdles where he recorded a 7.85 time (converted from 7.83), topping the conference’s 60H charts and ranking 47
th nationally.
Shadrick (Jr.) took part in the Robert Platt Invitational heptathlon where he finished the weekend with 5177 points, a new PR by over 400 points. Shadrick’s score was highlight by his high jump where he finished second in the meet with a mark of 1.93m (6-4.00) and by his third-place finish in the pole vault where he recorded a 4.65m (15-3.00). He also partook in the 60m dash, long jump, shot put, 60m hurdles, and 1000m, collecting numerous PRs throughout the events. Shadrick’s 5177 points ranks him first in the WAC and 41
st in the country.
