ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Gabe McGlothan and Tyon Grant-Foster have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Jan. 7.
 
McGlothan, a redshirt senior forward, earned his third weekly conference honor of the season after averaging 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in a pair of GCU wins, shooting a league-best 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the field. McGlothan tallied 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting with 10 rebounds (four offensive) and two steals in a 96-75 win over Southern Utah on Jan. 4. McGlothan connected on 9-of-12 shots to go for a game-high 23 points and help complete a 75-65 comeback for the Lopes at Utah Tech on Jan. 6.
 
Grant-Foster, a senior transfer guard, captured a fourth newcomer of the week award this season with a 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game average for GCU. Grant-Foster tallied a team-high 27 points on 11 made field goals in the win against Southern Utah on Jan. 4 and contributed 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals at Utah Tech on Jan. 6.
