ABILENE, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) decided its league qualifiers for the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championship following three days of play at the inaugural WAC Tennis Invitational at John TL Jones Tennis Center. The 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championship will be held on Nov. 7-10 in Rome, Georgia, and will have a draw of 32 singles players and doubles teams from across NCAA Division I conferences. From this, four players (4) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship and three doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship on Nov. 19-24 in Waco.
 
UT Arlington’s Andres Medus, the men’s singles six seed, captured the WAC’s singles berth with wins over No. 3 Filip Stipic from Seattle U (4-6, 6-3, 7-5), No. 2 Daniel Morozov from Abilene Christian (6-4, 6-2) and No. 1 Nikita Volonski from Grand Canyon (6-4, 6-2). In men’s doubles, No. 2 seed GCU’s Brice Patoux and David Wekesa bested No. 4 Lazid Yahjomri and Pedro Sasso from UT Arlington 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4) to advance to the ITA Conference Masters.
 
Tarleton State’s Noelia Lorca, the women’s singles five seed, was the only player in the field to win four singles matches during the invitational on her way to the ITA Conference Masters. Lorca defeated No. 12 Adela Latalova from UT Arlington 6-2, 6-3, No. 4 Olivia Sears from ACU 6-0, 5-7, 6-4, No. 1 Lamija Avdic from Seattle U 6-0, 7-5 and No. 2 Ana Paula Jimenez from UT Arlington 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 6-4. Avdic and Seattle U doubles partner Liliya Dimova, the invitationals third seed, earned the doubles qualifying spot by besting No.5 Gala Arangio and Dania Deaifi from GCU 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3).
