ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Faith Webber, Grand Canyon’s Alex Sampson, and Utah Tech’s Brianna Frey have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player, and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Oct. 28.
 
Webber, a senior forward, took her fourth offensive weekly honor after recording a brace in Utah Valley’s 3-3 draw with Seattle U, helping the Wolverines clinch the outright regular season championship. The two goals lifted her to 18 total on the season, which is the most in the nation and broke the previous UVU goals in a season record of 16 that she set last season. Webber led Utah Valley to an unbeaten conference record of 6-0-1 and an unbeaten streak of 10 games heading into the postseason.
 
Sampson, a graduate defender, was a key staple in the Grand Canyon defensive line in the Lopes’ match against California Baptist where they held the Lancers scoreless in an 0-0 draw and earned the first-round bye. Sampson and the GCU backline held CBU to only two shots on goal and five shots total. Sampson has contributed to a lockdown Lopes defense that holds a 0.78 GAA (goals against average) going into the WAC tournament.
 
Frey, a junior goalkeeper, recorded her third shutout of the year and fifth career clean sheet in Utah Tech’s postseason-clinching 4-0 win against Southern Utah. Frey picked up eight saves against the Thunderbirds and finished the season with the most saves per game in the WAC with 5.38.
