2024 WAC Men's Soccer Release - Week 11

SAN DIEGO STATE, SEATTLE U CLINCH SPOTS IN 2024 WAC MEN’S SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Entering the final weekend of regular season play, both San Diego State and Seattle U have officially punched tickets to the 2024 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament in Phoenix. SDSU sits atop the table with a 6-0-1 conference record and 19 points and can clinch at least a share of the conference regular season title and the top tournament seed with a win over Utah Valley on Oct. 31. Seattle U checked in second in the WAC standings with 16 points at 5-1-1.

UTAH VALLEY KEEPS TOURNAMENT HOPES ALIVE WITH LAST SECOND THRILLER AGAINST UTAH TECH
Trailing 1-0 just four minutes into a conference match with Utah Tech on Oct. 28, Utah Valley rallied with an equalizer in the 28th minute and the match-winner with under 20 seconds to play to stun the Trailblazers 2-1. The comeback propelled Utah Valley into a three-way tie for the sixth and final spot in the upcoming conference tournament.

UNLV SHUTOUT STREAK REACHES FIVE MATCHES
Unbeaten in its last seven matches (2-0-5) in conference play, UNLV has climbed into a tie for third place in the WAC standings with 11 points. Keying the Rebels surge has been over 460 minutes of shutout soccer dating back to the first half of a 1-1 draw at Seattle U on Oct. 10. Goalkeeper Hugo Lemos has paced the conference with seven solo shutouts this season as of Oct. 29.

SDSU STILL SETTING THE PACE AS THE TOP RANKED WAC TEAM IN LATEST NCAA RPI
As of the latest NCAA RPI update on Oct. 29, San Diego State remained the top team from the WAC with an adjusted RPI ranking of 48. The other top 100 WAC team in the most recent NCAA RPI was Seattle U at 60.

THE FINAL PUSH FOR THE WAC TOURNAMENT IS ON
Four spots remain up grabs into the 2024 WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament entering the final week of conference play. UNLV (11 points), California Baptist (10 points), UTRGV (9 points), San José State (8 points), Utah Valley (8 points), Utah Tech (8 points) and Grand Canyon (7 points) are currently within three points of the current baseline for the sixth and final tournament spot.
