#UACFOOTBALL -- The first full weekend of United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football games did not disappoint with three of the four decided by one score and the other featuring a record scoring performance. That thrilling action produced some quality selections for the group of UAC Player of the Week honors that featured first-time selections in Abilene Christian's Nehemiah Martinez (Offense), Southern Utah's George Ramirez (Defense) and Austin Peay's Dominik Stadlman (Specialist) while North Alabama's Jalen Fletcher (Freshman) collected his second nod of the season.
A senior wide receiver, Martinez had seven catches for 202 yards, a season best in the UAC this season, and included 151 yards after the catch. He scored three touchdowns in the Wildcats thrilling 41-34 victory over No. 5 UCA. Martinez recorded scoring receptions of 75, 70 and 26 yards in the game and moved to the top of the FCS statistical rankings for receiving yards and touchdowns this season.
Ramirez, a senior defensive back, was a force for the Thunderbirds as he led the defensive effort with 13 tackles, including nine solo stops against No. 14 Tarleton State. The season leader in tackles for SUU, Ramirez recorded three tackles-for-loss among his game high double digit total.
The Govs' redshirt-senior punter, Stadlman proved to be a big contributor in a closely contested game at West Georgia. He punted seven times for 286 yards and a 40.9-yard average while placing 6-of-7 punts inside the UWG 25-yard line with four downed inside the 20. Stadlman launched a pair of punts over 50 yards including a game best 52-yarder.
Fletcher, a true freshman running back, netted 128 all-purpose yards in the Lions' offensive explosion verus Utah Tech. He carried the ball 9 times for 73 yards (8.1 ypc) and also had one catch for 55 yards resulting in his first career touchdown.
