2024-25 WAC Men's Basketball Release - Week 2

FOUR WAC TEAMS OPEN THE NEW SEASON 2-0

Four separate WAC teams kicked off the 2024-25 campaign with matching 2-0 records, as California Baptist, Grand Canyon, Southern Utah and Utah Valley each swept nonconference games during the season’s first week. All four WAC squads captured the first two wins of the new season at home.

GCU TRANSFER COLES SHOWS OUT DURING FIRST WEEK
Grand Canyon senior transfer forward JaKobe Coles logged the first two double-doubles of his career during the 2-0 homestand for the Lopes to begin 2024-25. Coles captured WAC Player and Newcomer of the Week on Nov. 11 after averaging 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in wins against Cal State Fullerton and Western Kentucky. GCU has now won 18 straight regular season home games at Global Credit Union Arena dating back to the start of the 2023-24 season.

UVU’S NELSON ALSO ENJOYS A STRONG DEBUT
Utah Valley junior transfer guard Dominick Nelson acclimated himself well to the Wolverines during a 2-0 run to open the season, averaging 17.0 points on 68.8 percent shooting. Nelson poured in 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds in an 89-60 triumph over UTEP on Nov. 9, after previously scoring 13 points in his Division I debut against Western Colorado on Nov. 4.

CBU’S COLEMAN LIGHTS UP THE SCOREBOARD IN 2-0 START
California Baptist senior forward Kendal Coleman filled up the stat sheet for the Lancers in their 2-0 opening week at home. Coleman averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest, logging 17 points and six boards against UIW on Nov. 4 and 21 points and 10 rebounds versus Kennesaw State on Nov. 9.
