ARLINGTON, Texas – Air Force’s James Winterfield and Grand Canyon’s Omar Elsayed have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, for the competition week ending on Monday, Nov. 11.
 
Winterfield, a junior, helped Air Force back into the win column with a 186-167 win against GCU. Winterfield competed in six events where he finished no lower than second place and won every individual race he swam in. Winterfield claimed the top spot in the 200 backstroke (1:47.42), 100 butterfly (48.34), 200 butterfly (1:47.59), and the 200 freestyle (1:37.95). All four of Winterfield’s times are inside the top four of this season’s WAC charts. Winterfield also partook in Air Force’s 400 free relay (3:00.76) and 400 medley relay (3:16.69) where the Falcons took two second-place finishes.
 
Elsayed, a freshman, won both diving events in Grand Canyon’s dual with Air Force. Elsayed notched a final score of 307.05 in the 1-meter dive and won the 3-meter dive by 76 points with a final score of 376.88.
