Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above WAC Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week Announced

ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s Chardonnay Hartley and Aaliyah Ibarra have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Nov. 24.
 
Hartley, a junior guard, averaged 17.0 points on 34.5 percent shooting (10-of-29), including 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from beyond the arc in two games for Utah Tech last week. Hartley also averaged 7.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. Hartley scored 17 points in both games and posted a game-high seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals against Houston Christian. Hartley then notched another game-high of eight assists, with four boards and a steal in UTU’s win over McNeese State. Hartley enters the week third in the nation in total assists (49) and fouth in assists per game (8.2).
 
Ibarra, a junior transfer guard, recorded a career-high 36 points off the bench for Utah Tech in the Trailblazers’ 79-69 victory against McNeese State. Ibarra was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor with four 3-pointers, along with a 2-for-2 effort at the free-throw line in an 18-point second quarter performance. Ibarra totaled 12 field goals in 20 attempts (60.0 %), including 5-of-11 from the perimeter and 7-of-9 from the foul line. Ibarra’s 36 points were the second-most points scored by a Trailblazer in a game in UTU’s D-I era.
