ARLINGTON, Texas – Seattle U’s Richy Lapointe-Guevara, San Jose State’s Christian Powell and San Diego State’s Djibril Doumbia have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Nov. 4.

Lapointe-Guevara, a senior midfielder, was the conference co-leader with five points in the final week of the regular season after notching two goals and one assist. Lapointe-Guevara connected on an insurance goal in the 47th minute of a 3-1 win against UTRGV on Oct. 31 before adding a goal and a primary assist during the second half of a 5-0 victory over Grand Canyon on Nov. 3.

Powell, a senior defender, played the full 90 minutes in two San Jose State shutouts to solidify qualification into the upcoming WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Spartans held GCU without a shot on goal during a 3-0 clean sheet victory on Oct. 31, and Powell was responsible for a team clearance off the line in the regular season finale against UTRGV in a scoreless draw on Nov. 3.

Doumbia, a senior goalkeeper, repeated as the conference keeper of the week following a 2-0 shutout against Air Force on Nov. 3 to clinch the first men’s soccer regular season conference title in San Diego State history. Doumbia earned a result in his final eight regular season starts for the Aztecs, which included four consecutive solo clean sheets.
