ARLINGTON, Texas – UNLV’s Daniel Nicusan and Alex Vazquez have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Monday, Dec. 9.
 
Nicusan, a senior, took his second weekly swimming honor this year after breaking three school records and reaching three NCAA B cuts at the four-day Minnesota Invitational that consisted of multiple ranked teams. Nicusan set a UNLV program record in the men’s 200 IM with a time of 1:45.12 which gave him a fourth-place finish in the meet. His 100 breaststroke time of 52.11 earned him the school record and a third-place finish. Nicusan notched another third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a school record-breaking time of 1:53.65. Additionally, Nicusan added three top-five finishes in the relay events, which included the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay (1:25.61), the lead-off leg in the 200 free relay (1:19.51) and the anchor leg of the 400 medley relay (3:10.31).
 
Vazquez, a sophomore, also claimed his second weekly diving honor after breaking program records in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in the Riverside Diving Invitational. Vazquez originally broke the 3-meter springboard record in the prelims with a score of 408.45 but went on to break that record in the finals with a winning score of 453.95. Vazquez then broke his own program record in the 1-meter event with his second winning score of 372.75.
