ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Dominique Daniels Jr. and Utah Valley’s Carter Welling have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Daniels Jr., a senior guard, paced the WAC with 26.0 points per game and added 3.3 assists per contest for CBU over three games last week. Daniels Jr. tallied 16 points and three assists against SMU on Nov. 26 and 29 points and four dimes in a double overtime win versus Fresno State on Nov. 27 at the Acrisure Holiday Invitational in Palm Desert, California. Daniels Jr. closed the week with 33 points on 11 made field goals with three assists and a steal on Dec. 1 at Central Florida.

Welling, a sophomore transfer forward, averaged 16.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 53.3 percent for Utah Valley in three games at the Samford Thanksgiving Invitational. Welling tallied 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over West Georgia on Nov. 26 and added 14 points, 10 boards, two blocked shots and two steals against Samford on Nov. 27.
