Demian Alvarez were each selected in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft on Friday. Fisher was the 23rd pick of the first round to Toronto FC, while Alvarez went 28th in round two (58th overall) to Seattle Sounders FC.
Multiple WAC players have now been chosen in the same MLS SuperDraft on six occasions dating back to 2018, with a record six players from the conference being drafted in 2022. Three first-round picks from the WAC were part of the 2022 class.
Fisher, the preseason WAC Defensive Player of the Year, landed on the all-conference first team in his lone season in the WAC for regular season champion San Diego State. Fisher made 17 starts on the Aztec back line, scoring a goal and adding two assists during the campaign. Fisher also helped anchor San Diego State to seven shutouts during the 2024 season, including four straight clean sheets to close the regular season.
Alvarez captured 2024 WAC Defensive Player of the Year accolades after leading Seattle U to the WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament title and an NCAA Championship berth. Alvarez made 19 starts for the Redhawks and tallied one goal and an assist, with his goal coming during the semifinal round of the WAC tournament. Seattle U closed the year with five shutouts with Alvarez at the helm, posting the best goals against average (1.09) in the WAC for the 2024 season.
