ARLINGTON, Texas – UNLV’s Daniel Nicusan and Alex Vazquez have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Thursday, Dec. 19.
 
Nicusan, a senior, took his second consecutive weekly swimming honor and third overall this year after collecting three top-five finishes and leading the Rebels to victory at their annual UNLV Finis Invitational. Nicusan won the 100 IM (48.04), grabbed a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle (19.70) and posted a fifth-place finish in the 100 backstroke (48.16). Nicusan also contributed to four top-three UNLV relay finishes, including a win in the 400 medley relay (3:09.73), second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:26.11) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:19.40), as well as a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (2:56.51). UNLV’s 200 free and 400 medley relay times were new season-best marks.
 
Vazquez, a sophomore, followed his teammate’s lead and also collected his second consecutive weekly diving honor after notching a pair of top-three finishes in UNLV’s home invite win. Vazquez recorded a second-place performance on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 314.10 and placed third with a score of 343.65 in the 3-meter dive.
