ARLINGTON, Texas – Abilene Christian’s Hunter Jack Madden and Seattle U’s Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Madden, a senior guard, was the leading scorer for ACU in a key 78-70 nonconference win at New Mexico State on Dec. 4. Madden scored a game-high 24 points, which included 21 points in the second half alone, to go along with three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Madden hit five of his six shot attempts, including four of five from beyond the arc, and all seven of his free throws during the second half against the Aggies.

Moncrieffe, a graduate transfer forward, averaged 14.5 points and a conference-high 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5 percent during a Seattle U 1-1 week. Moncrieffe logged 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds (four offensive) to go along with four assists during a 91-74 win over Portland State on Dec. 4. Moncrieffe followed that up with 14 points and eight boards at UTEP on Dec. 7.
