ARLINGTON, Texas – Stephen F. Austin’s Kyla Deck and UT Arlington’s Gia Adams have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 18.
 
Deck, a sophomore guard, led the team and set a new career-high with 34 points in Stephen F. Austin’s come from behind 89-83 victory over Abilene Christian. In the fourth quarter, Deck scored 15 of the Ladyjacks 34 points. Her previous career-high was 24, which she had recorded twice this season. Deck went 12-of-17 (.706) from the field and 3-of-5 (.600) from beyond the arc. She also led the team with four steals and recorded four rebounds.
 
Adams, a junior guard, earned WAC Newcomer of the Week honors for the third consecutive week as she averaged 20.5 points with a 77.4 field goal percentage (17-of-22) and 71.4 3-point percentage (5-of-7). She recorded 22 points, two rebounds and one block against Tarleton State. Adams then tallied 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in a win over UTRGV.
