TicketSmarter WAC Softball Players of the Week Announced

ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Kristin Fifield and Tarleton State’s Kendall Daniel have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 18.
 
Fifield, a graduate student utility player, started at first base in all five games last week. Fifield hit a walk-off two-run homer in the Lopes 11-2 win over No. 17 Virginia Tech. She had seven RBIs on seven hits with a .438 batting average, .688 slugging percentage, .444 on base percentage, two stolen bases on two attempts and a .973 fielding percentage. Fifield also had 35 putouts and one assist. 
 
Daniel, a freshman, Daniel earned her first collegiate win as she tossed the 11th no-hitter in Tarleton State’s history during a 9-0 win against Mississippi Valley State. She was just the second freshman in program history to ever toss a no-hitter with the first being Caryn Holbrook on March 29, 1997, against Eastern New Mexico (14-0 (5).
