ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s Breaunna Gillen and UT Arlington’s Gia Adams have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Feb. 25.
 
Gillen, a fifth-year guard, played arguably the best game of her storied career in Saturday’s win over UT Arlington. Gillen scored a career-high 38 points and finished with 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block. She hit on 13-of-21 from the floor with a career-best four 3-pointers (4-of-6). Her 38 points were not only the most scored by a player in the WAC this season, but they were also the most scored by a Trailblazer in the program’s brief NCAA Division I era, and the third-most in Utah Tech’s four-year history. Gillen (1,517 points) also surpassed the 1,500-point plateau, becoming the first player, both male or female, in school history to do so.
 
Adams, a junior guard, earned WAC Newcomer of the Week honors for the fourth consecutive week as she averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals. She recorded 20 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals against Southern Utah. Adams then tallied 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals against Utah Tech.
