2024 WAC Softball Release - Week Four

GRAND CANYON ON TOP OF WAC STANDINGS

Grand Canyon stands alone at the top of the WAC standings with an overall record of 11-4. Tarleton State was second with a 10-7 mark, while California Baptist ranks third (7-7), Southern Utah is in fourth with 7-8 and Ailene Christian rounds out the top five with a 7-9 record.

SFA TOPS MINNESOTA IN NAIL-BITER
Stephen F. Austin’s Aydenne Brown was a crucial part of how the ‘Jacks secured their win over Minnesota. The WAC Pitcher of the Week pitched a complete game in SFA’s 1-0 win. Mikaelah Burkland crushed a solo home run in the second-inning on a 3-2 count to left field to earn a early 1-0 lead for SFA. Brown did the rest of the heavy lifting, only allowing four hits and struck out three batters on 86 pitches.

HAVE YOURSELF A WEEKEND CAMILLE
UT Arlington’s fifth year infielder Camille Corona had a phenomenal weekend at the three-day Razorback Invitational. The lefty tabbed an impressive .625 batting average with 10 hits. She had multi-hit efforts in four of the five games for the Mavs, making that six on the season so far including a 2-3 performance against No. 14 Arkansas. Currently, Corona leads UTA with a .432 batting average with 16 hits.
