ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Jonathan Rom and California Baptist’s Mario Del Valle have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 4.
 
Rom, a sophomore, enjoyed a perfect weekend helping lead the Lopes to a 151-143 win over UNLV. Rom placed first in both the 100 (54.60) and 200 breaststroke (1:57.23). He placed first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.37). Rom was also a part of the first-place 200 medley relay team (1:28.60).
 
Del Valle, a freshman, dominated the Air Force Diving Invitational (which included AFA, BYU, Arizona. St., Wyoming, and Denver) setting a program record on opening day in the 3-meter event (422.60) which he won by nearly 100 points. He won the 1-meter event on Friday, edging teammate and reigning WAC Diver of the week Gael Jimenez by three points (397.90), and finished it off with a 391.70 on the platform.
