ARLINGTON, Texas – Idaho’s
Ella Haskins and California Baptist’s
Natalia Bedolla have been named the
TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Haskins, a junior, posted two record-breaking wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle in a meet against Washington State on Saturday. She started the day with a career-best 22.94 in the 50 free to break the previously 10-year-old school record held by Erica Anderson (23.08). The mark sits second fastest in the WAC this season. The Seattle native followed it up with a program-leading time of 49.90 in the 100 free to top another 10-year-old mark that was held by former WAC Swimmer of the Year, Rachel (Millet) Sewell. The time is the fastest recorded mark by a conference swimmer in the 100 free this season. After earning two more individual victories this past weekend, Haskins wraps up the regular season action with 10 first-place finishes in her junior campaign.
Bedolla, a sophomore, won the opening event of the Air Force Academy Diving Invite, scoring 278.00 on the 1-meter springboard. She would make the finals in both the 3-meter and platform as well, placing fourth in both events.
