ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s
Neysia Howard and
Summer Grubbs have been named the
TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the meet week ending on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Howard, a senior, repeated as the conference women’s track athlete of the week, earning a third overall honor this season following the Riverfront Invitational & Multis on Feb. 1-3 in Spokane, Washington. Howard finished third in the 60-meter dash (7.48) after clocking a conference season-best time of 7.47 to finish atop the preliminary heats.
Grubbs, a senior, posted the top conference score of the season in the pentathlon with 3,840 points during the Riverfront Invitational & Multis. Grubbs, who placed third in the competition and registered the 35th ranked pentathlon score in the nation as of Feb. 7, tied Howard with the top long jump attempt of the season (5.88m/19-3.50) in the WAC during the event.
