ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Tyler Wilson and Abilene Christian’s Brett Garcia have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, March 10.
 
Wilson, a senior utility player, batted .421 over five games for GCU against Oregon and Stephen F. Austin, clubbing three home runs to go along with three doubles, seven RBI and seven runs scored. Wilson slugged 1.053 and had an even .500 on-base percentage for the week. Wilson logged a home run and two RBI against Oregon on March 6, went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two RBI and three runs in game one against SFA on March 8 and added a home run, three RBI and a pair of runs in the SFA finale on March 10.
 
Garcia, a graduate transfer right-handed pitcher, was untouchable over two relief outings against TCU and Tarleton State out of the ACU bullpen. Garcia went 2.0 spotless innings against then-undefeated TCU, striking out five of the six batters he faced in a no decision on March 5. Garcia then picked up the save in a 4-0 win over Tarleton State on March 9, throwing the final 3.1 innings and allowing a lone base runner due to a walk while striking out five Texan hitters.
