LAS VEGAS – The semifinal round of the 2024 Hercules Tires WAC Women’s Basketball Tournament was highlighted by scoring offenses as No. 1 California Baptist and No. 3 Stephen F. Austin earned wins to advance to Saturday’s championship match. The Lancers and ‘Jacks will battle for the WAC tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament at 10:30 a.m. PT Saturday, March 16 on ESPNU.

No. 1 California Baptist 83, No. 5 UT Arlington 67 | Box Score

California Baptist hit 15-of-34 3-pointers to take down UT Arlington, 83-67 in the semifinal round. The Lancers were just two three-pointers short of tying their own WAC tournament record of 17 that was set in 2021. UT Arlington concluded its season with an overall record of 17-16.

The Lancers were led by junior guard Anaiyah Tu’ua with 16 points and four assists, shooting a perfect 100 percent from the 3-point line (4-of4). Junior guard Nhug Bosch Duran tallied 15 points, four rebounds and two assists. WAC Player of the Year Chloe Webb chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds, notching her third consecutive double-double and eighth of the season.

Senior forward Avery Brittingham led UT Arlington with 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Junior guard Hannah Humphrey recorded 12 points and three rebounds. Fifth year forward Adela Valkova tallied a near double-double with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

No. 2 Grand Canyon 66, No. 3 Stephen F. Austin 63  | Box Score

No. 3 Stephen F. Austin earned the come from behind 66-63 upset over No. 2 Grand Canyon. Down 17-3 after the first quarter, the ‘Jacks went on to shoot 61.5 percent from the field and 75.5 percent from the 3-point line to get ahead 28-25 at the half. Grand Canyon ended its season at 24-8.

Redshirt senior center Kurstyn Harden recorded a game-high 16 points for Stephen F. Austin, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter while adding four rebounds. Senior guard Tyler McCliment-Call tallied 13 points, two rebounds and two assists. Graduate student guard Mele Finau chipped in 11 points and six rebounds.  

The Lopes were led by junior guard Trinity San Antonio with 18 points and seven assists and five rebounds. Senior guard/forward Tiarra Brown recorded 14 points and five rebounds, scoring eight in the fourth quarter. Fifth year guard Jada Holland chipped in with nine and two assists.
