2024 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships Complete Results (PDF)
PHARR, Texas – Northern Arizona women dominate with 841.5 points to claim its 11
th consecutive WAC swimming and diving title. UNLV men’s wins its fourth straight title with 972 points at the City of Pharr Natatorium.
Saturday’s finals started off with the men’s 1650-yard free as California Baptist’s
Mark Kovacsics placed first for the second consecutive year with a time of 15:06.75. UNLV’s
Hayden Lambert finished second with a mark of 15:18.03, while teammate
Andrew Navarro took third with a 15:21.96 mark.
Northern Arizona’s
Casey Craffey finished first in the 1650-yard free for the third consecutive year with a time of 16:21.27, becoming the third swimmer to three-peat the event, joining Cherrill Haws (BYU, 1994-1996) and Suzanne Black (SMU, 1998-2000).
Kyra Rabess of Northern Colorado took second with a 16:36.52 mark. Grand Canyon’s
Viviana Criscione placed third with a time of 16:56.76.
During the afternoon session, a men’s team diving exhibition took place between Air Force, California Baptist, Grand Canyon and UNLV. California Baptist’s
John Angelovic, Gael Jimenez and
Mario Del Valle scored 382.20 points to place first. Grand Canyon came in second with 343.95 points, UNLV had a 287.90 mark to finish third and Air Force placed fourth with 284.85.
In the men’s 200-yard back, UNLV’s
Tatsuki Inoue took first with a 1:43.58 mark.
Wikus Potgieter of UNLV placed second with a time of 1:43.69. Grand Canyon’s
Mohamed Mohamady finished third with a mark of 1:44.52.
Northern Arizona’s
Annie Carlton took gold with a time of 1:57.27 in the women’s 200-yard back. New Mexico State’s
Lindsay Puhalski claimed silver with a 1:57.35 mark. Utah Tech’s
Mary Cross earned bronze with a time of 1:58.16.
UNLV’s
George Ratiu placed first in the men’s 100-yard free with a time of 43.74. California Baptist’s
Tyler Mansheim took second with a mark of 43.34. Grand Canyon’s
Grzegorz Wanat finished third with a 43.38 mark.
Grand Canyon’s
Maria Brunlehner won her third individual gold medal of the championship in the women’s 100-yard free with a time of 48.79. Idaho’s
Ella Haskins earned silver with a 49.78 mark. Northern Arizona’s
Elsa Musselman claimed third with a time of 50.24.
In the men’s 200-yard breast,
Jonathan Rom of Grand Canyon finished first as he broke his own conference record from last year’s championships (1:53.90) with a time of 1:53.87. UNLV’s
Adnan Beji placed second with a mark of 1:54.38. Air Force’s
Thomas Nagle took third with a 1:56.59 mark.
On the women’s side, Northern Colorado’s
Maria Erokhina placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:13.00.
Kodi Wiman of New Mexico State took second with a 2:14.64 mark. Grand Canyon’s
Raphaela Nakashima finished third with a mark of 2:14.87.
UNLV’s
Colby Raffel took gold in the men’s 200-yard fly with a time of 1:43.89. Wyoming’s
Quinton Cynor claimed silver with a 1:44.76, while teammate
Gavin Smith earned bronze with a time of 1:45.44.
Northern Arizona’s
Madison Rey finished first in the women’s 200-yard fly with a 1:58.80 mark. Northern Colorado’s
Payten Irwin placed second with a time of 1:59.16.
Paula Martinez of Grand Canyon took third with a mark of 1:59.38.
In the women’s platform diving, Northern Arizona’s
Mackenna Stocker placed first and set a new program record for the ‘Jacks with her final score of 278.50. California Baptist’s
Audrey Thordarson-Wehner took second with a score of 263.55. Grand Canyon’s
Shiori Bak finished third with a final score of 251.95.
UNLV’s
George Ratiu,
Bryson Huey,
Cameron Castro and
Steven Butler placed first for the third consecutive year in the men’s 400-yard free relay with a time of 2:51.65. Grand Canyon finished second with a 2:52.04 mark. Wyoming took third with a mark of 2:55.56.
The 2024 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships concluded with the women’s 400-yard free relay as Northern Arizona’s
Elsa Musselman,
Annie Carlton,
Sophie Velitchkov and
Bena Koehn claimed gold with a time of 3:20.02. Grand Canyon took silver with a 3:20.03 mark. Idaho earned bronze with a time of 3:21.13.
