2023-24 WAC WBB Release - NCAA Tournament 

CBU CAPTURES WAC TOURNEY TITLE

California Baptist claimed its second WAC Tournament title in program history, as the Lancers came from behind to take down No. 3 Stephen F. Austin 75-74 on Saturday in the 2024 Hercules Tires WAC Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship Game at The Orleans Arena. With the victory, the Lancers clinched an automatic bid and will make their first appearance in the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
CHLOE IS CLUTCH
Senior guard Chloe Webb from California Baptist was selected as the 2024 University Credit Union WAC Most Outstanding Player after recording a double-double during the semifinal round against UT Arlington with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while adding five assists. She then had a dominant performance in the championship with 24 points, 15 rebounds and three assists.
 
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST SECURES NO. 15 SEED, TAKES ON NO. 2 UCLA IN 2024 NCAA TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND
California Baptist received the No. 15 seed in the Albany 2 Region to face off against No. 2 UCLA in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 23 at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California at 6:30 p.m PT.
 
STEPHEN F. AUSTIN TAKES IT ALL THE WAY IN WACVEGAS
Stephen F. Austin entered the 2024 Hercules Tires WAC Basketball Tournament as the third overall seed and fought its way to the championship. In the quarterfinal, the ‘Jacks downed Tarleton State 70-58. Stephen F. Austin earned a huge 66-63 upset win over Grand Canyon in the semifinal round. The ‘Jacks won the WAC Tournament title during the 2021-22 season.
 
STAR STUDDED WAC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Joining CBU’s Chloe Webb (18.5 PPG, 12.5 REB) on the 2024 WAC All-Tournament Team was teammate Anayiah Tu’ua averaging 19 points per game, shooting 75 percent from behind the arc. Stephen F. Austin’s Kurstyn Harden (22.3 PPG, 7.0) and Destini Lombard (6.0REB, 5.3 AST, 3.0 STL). UT Arlington’s Avery Brittingham (22.0 PPG, 11.0) also earned All-Tournament honors.

California Baptist’s Chloe Webb was unanimously selected by the league’s 11 head coaches as the WAC Player of the Year.
 
Other major award winners were represented by three institutions across the WAC. Stephen F. Austin’s Destini Lombard was named WAC Defensive Player of the Year, while Abilene Christian’s Payton Hull captured WAC Freshman of the Year. Laura Erikstrup of Grand Canyon took home WAC Sixth Player of the Year. California Baptist’s Jarrod Olson earned WAC Coach of the Year.
 
On the All-WAC First Team, Webb was joined by Grand Canyon’s Tiarra Brown, Kurstyn Harden of Stephen F. Austin, UT Arlington’s Gia Adams and Utah Tech’s Breaunna Gillen. Abilene Christian boasted two All-WAC Second Team selections in Bella Earle and Hull. Southern Utah’s Daylani Ballena, UT Arlington’s Avery Brittingham and Utah Tech’s Maddie Warren rounded out the second-team honorees.
