ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Kayla Lyon and Utah Tech’s Attlyn Johnston have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Mar. 24.
 
Lyon, a sophomore third base/catcher, had a huge week pacing the Lancer offense to a 3-1 record. Lyon hit two home runs in back-to-back games against Long Beach State and Southern Utah. She totaled a .538 average (7-13) with six runs scored, eight RBIs, four home runs and a double.
 
Johnston, a junior, went 1-1 on the week with a 1.27 ERA in a pair of starts against Stephen F. Austin. She struck out 13 and walked two in 11.0 innings. Johnston threw a complete shutout game (7.0 IP) in a 1-0 win in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. She limited SFA to six hits while striking out a career-high nine and walked none.
