FULL STANDINGS BREAKDOWN AVAILABLE HERE).
The WAC awards its Commissioner's Cup to the school that performs the best in a countable 14 of the conference's 20 men's and women's sponsored sports from an academic year. Points are awarded by aggregate scoring based on regular season and/or championship finishes depending on the sport and the number of institutions that sponsor the sport. An institution that does not sponsor a specific sport does not receive any points.
Only the regular season was counted for the sport of basketball during the winter of 2024. For the sports of indoor track and field and swimming and diving, points were determined using the WAC Championship results based on the per sport scoring system. Affiliates are used as a placeholder in the standings or championship results but are not scored in the overall Commissioner’s Cup standings. Any team that earned an NCAA AQ from an WAC Championship was also awarded two points, along with a two-point bonus per round to any team that advanced in NCAA Championship play.
Grand Canyon registered 104.5 points to lead following the winter cup standings thanks to a conference championship in men’s basketball, women’s indoor track and field and a runner-up finish in the women’s basketball regular season. The Lopes added bonus points for the men’s basketball team’s advancement in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
California Baptist checked in with 90.5 points and in second place in the standings on the strength of capturing the conference women’s basketball title at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. California Baptist earned bonus points for women’s basketball as the WAC’s automatic NCAA tournament qualifier. The Lancers also finished third at the men’s swimming and diving championships.
