ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s
Erin Brown and
Israel Oloyede have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the meet week ending on Sunday, Mar. 24.
Brown (Sr.) made his way to the top of the conference charts in multiple events after a stellar showing at the 2024 Willie Williams Classic. Brown broke his own school record in the 200m run with a time of 20.70, topping the WAC 200m rankings and coming in at 20
th nationally. Brown ran a conference-best 10.35 in the 100m dash, placing 37
th in the country. Brown was also in the Lopes’ 4x100m relay and helped the team run a 39.91, the best time in the WAC and 22
ndbest in the nation.
Oloyede (Gr.) cracked the top-ten of the national rankings in the hammer throw this past weekend with a mark of 69.85m (229-2.0). Oloyede jumped to the top of the WAC hammer throw rankings and currently sits at 7
th in the country.
