2024 WAC Baseball Release - Week 4
TARLETON STATE STAYS NUMBER ONE IN THE STANDINGS
Tarleton State remained at the top of the WAC standings with a 9-5 (.643) record entering games on March 8. California Baptist was second at 8-5 (.615), followed by Abilene Christian at 8-6 (.571).
CBU’S CARPENTIER NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Michael Carpentier earned WAC Player of the Week honors after posting a .529 batting average, four doubles, four RBI and four runs scored during a series win against UC Davis last weekend. Carpentier was 3-for-5 in game one, 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in game three and 2-for-5 with a run in the series finale for CBU.
MEMORABLE FIRST CAREER WIN, PITCHER OF THE WEEK FOR UTA’S DYGERT

Caylon Dygert earned a memorable first career collegiate victory, tossing a complete game five-hitter during a 3-1 win at Lamar on March 2. Dygert issued one walk and one hit by pitch and struck out four batters on 94 pitches to secure the win for the Mavs.
LANCERS AT THE TOP IN BOTH HITTING AND PITCHING
Entering games on March 8, California Baptist owned the best team batting average and the best team ERA among all teams in the WAC thus far this season. The Lancers have batted .289 as a team through 13 games while compiling a 3.41 combined ERA to set the pace in the conference. CBU also leads the league in doubles per game with 2.54 two-baggers per contest. CBU catcher
Michael Carpentier was at the top of the conference in base hits (22) and doubles (7) and ranked second in RBI (15) as of March 7.
Lukas Pirko (2.65, 5th),
Ryan Delgado (3.52, 9th) and
Brandon Downer (3.77, 11th) were each ranked in the top 15 of the WAC in individual ERA representing the Lancers.
CONFERENCE PLAY BEGINS THIS WEEKEND!
The 2024 WAC league schedule officially gets underway this weekend with five conference series on tap. Utah Valley travels to Sacramento State, California Baptist hosts Seattle U, UT Arlington entertains Utah Tech, Abilene Christian makes the short drive to Tarleton State and Grand Canyon heads to Stephen F. Austin. UTRGV is set to host Oakland in nonconference action.
