ARLINGTON, Texas – UTRGV’s Symoria Adkins and Grand Canyon’s Summer Grubbs have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the meet week ending on Sunday, Apr. 7.
 
Adkins (So.) secures her second weekly track award after claiming three top-ten finishes at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational. Adkins placed fifth in the meet’s 200-meter dash clocking in a new conference best time of 23.65, checking in at 84^th nationally. Adkins also collected a pair of eighth place finishes in the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles (13.51). Her 100-meter dash time of 11.55 is a new UTRGV outdoor program record and ranks third in the WAC. Adkins still holds the conference’s best 100-meter hurdles time and sits 61^st in the country.
 
Grubbs (Sr.) broke the GCU heptathlon record with a final score of 5344 points, placing seventh in a highly competitive field in the Jim Click Shootout. Grubbs notched top-five finishes in the long jump (4^th, 5.77m), 200-meters (5^th, 24.29), and javelin (5^th, 36.54m). Grubbs takes the top spot in the WAC heptathlon standings with 200 points over second place. All top-ten finishers in the meet’s heptathlon are ranked within the top-20 of the national heptathlon standings, with Grubbs checking in at 14^th.
