ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s
Daviciea McCartney and UT Arlington’s
Lucas Van Klaveren have been named the
TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the meet week ending on Sunday, April 14.
McCartney, a senior, was the top collegiate finisher in the men’s 400-meter hurdles at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 11-13 in Azusa, California. McCartney placed third with a time of 50.60, the fastest time in the WAC this season and ranked 19th in NCAA Division I as of April 17.
Van Klaveren, a senior, turned in a stellar showing in the men’s decathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 11-13. Van Klaveren won the event after scoring 7785 points, which included first-place finishes in the 400-meter dash (47.06) and javelin (55.77m/183.0) on the way to posting the second-best decathlon score in the nation as of April 17.
