Abilene Christian and Honea Maintain Lead after Second Round of 2024 WAC Women’s Golf Championship

2024 WAC Women's Golf Championship Second Round Scores 

PAYSON, Ariz. – Abilene Christian extended its lead at the conclusion of the second round of the 2024 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Golf Championship on Saturday at The Rim Golf Course. The Wildcats fired a 9-over-par 293 to lengthen their lead to five strokes at 23-over 591 (298-293).

Grand Canyon snagged solo second place after shooting a 294 to post 10-over-par (302-294=596). Seattle U climbed to third place thanks to a second round 294 to post 10-over 598 (301-292), while California Baptist dropped two slots to fourth place at 599 (290-300, +30). Tarleton State rounded out the top five with a 296 to record a 36-hole total of 607 (311-296, +39).

Abilene Christian’s Ryann Honea maintained the individual lead following a 1-over-par 72 on Saturday. Honea led by four shots at an even 142 (70-72) after 36 holes. California Baptist’s Sofia Chabon was in second place at four-over-par 146. Grand Canyon’s Leighton Shosted, California Baptist’s Pusanisa Ekkantrong, Seattle U’s Rivekka Jumagulova and Tarleton State’s Sofia Rodriguez tied for third at five-over-par 147.

The third and final round of the 2024 WAC Women’s Golf Championship is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. MST (Pacific Daylight Time) on Sunday at The Rim Golf Course. Live results are available via BirdieFire.com.
