ARLINGTON, Texas – UTRGV’s Zoe Adams and Utah Valley’s Kelsi Oldroyd have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, for the meet week ending on Sunday, Apr. 21.
 
Adams (Jr.) picked up two wins and a program record at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet hosted by Rice University. Adams won the 400-meter dash with her first career sub-54 second race, clocking in a new personal best time of 53.66. Adams is now the only athlete in the conference to have a 400-meter time below 54 seconds and checks in at 79^thnationally. Adams also helped UTRGV take the top spot in the 4x100 meter relay, running a program-best time of 44.99. Adams and the Vaqueros hold the best 4x100 time in the WAC and 85^th best time in the country.
 
Oldroyd (Jr.) picks up her second consecutive weekly field athlete award after topping her javelin throw from last week and entering the top five in the WAC’s long jump. Oldroyd placed third in the 64^th Annual Mt. SAC Relays’ javelin throw competition with a mark of 54.34m (178-3.00), besting her last week’s mark of 52.13m. Oldroyd not only holds the best javelin throw in the WAC, but is currently the only athlete in the conference to break 50 meters in the event. Her throw cracks the top ten in the country, sitting 10^th nationally. Oldroyd also won the long jump in the 2024 SUU Collegiate Championships with a mark of 5.91m (19-4.75), checking in at fourth in the WAC.
