ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s Rachel Campbell and Utah Valley’s Avery Sapp have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Apr. 28.
 
Campbell, a senior catcher, batted .625 (5-for-8) in the Trailblazers sweep over UT Arlington. Campbell slugged three home runs and drove in 10 RBI in the series. She registered a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.750 slugging percentage. Campbell hit a grand slam in game one on the Friday doubleheader in a 15-1 win.
 
Sapp, a freshman, pitched two complete games against Southern Utah last weekend. In her 14 innings pitched, she had seven strikeouts and a 0.50 ERA. She secured her second shutout of the season in a 4-0 win on April 28. Campbell is the first Utah Valley freshman with multiple shutouts since 2011.
