ARLINGTON, Texas – Sacramento State’s Gunner Gouldsmith and Utah Valley’s Eli Sundquist have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, May 12.

Gouldsmith, a senior infielder, batted .556 with a 1.056 slugging percentage, 10 RBIs and four runs scored during a 2-2 Sacramento State week that featured a series win against Stephen F. Austin. Gouldsmith reached base four times, smashing a home run while driving in four in a midweek setback against Nevada on May 7. In game two against SFA on May 11, Gouldsmith was a perfect 5-for-5 with a stolen base, two RBIs and a run scored. Gouldsmith capped the series win with two hits and four RBIs on May 12.

Sundquist, a senior right-handed pitcher, appeared three times out of the Utah Valley bullpen and did not allow a run in five total innings pitched against BYU and Tarleton State, scattering two hits, two walks and a hit by pitch while striking out eight. Sundquist threw the final 2.1 innings, allowed one baserunner and fanned five batters to claim the save in an 11-7 win in game one of a doubleheader at Tarleton State on May 11.
