2024 WAC Softball Release - NCAA Tournament 

GRAND CANYON MAKES HISTORY 
Grand Canyon became the first team in WAC softball tournament history to win three consecutive championship titles. The Lopes defended its title with a 9-2 win over No. 2 California Baptist in the championship game of the 2024 University Credit Union WAC Softball Tournament at Logan Field. With the victory, the Lopes clinched an automatic bid and will make their third appearance in the 2024 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament.
 
AMAZINGLY ASHLEY  
Grand Canyon’s graduate student Ashley Trierweiler was selected as the 2024 WAC Most Outstanding Player after batting .455 with three hits, two doubles, one RBI and 20 putouts on the week. During the semifinal game in GCU’s 4-0 shutout of Utah Valley, Trierweiler went 3-for-4 having two doubles. She also had a double in the championship game with two hits and one RBI.
 
BACK TO LOS ANGELES THE LOPES GO  
Grand Canyon (48-11) were one of four teams to qualify for the NCAA Los Angeles Regional and will collide with No. 6 national seed UCLA to begin its NCAA tournament schedule on May 17 at 5:30 p.m. PT. Virginia Tech and San Diego State will also compete at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles. The Lopes also traveled to Los Angeles in the 2023 national tournament as the WAC’s automatic qualifier with Grand Canyon earning its first NCAA Softball Championship win against UCLA (3-2).
 
STAR-STUDDED ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Joining Trierweiler on the all-tournament team from GCU was right fielder Kristin Fifield, designated player Ramsay Lopez, left fielder Kayla Rodgers and pitcher Meghan Golden. California Baptist was represented by catcher Kayla Lyon, short stop Priscilla Estrada and pitcher Presley Hosick. UT Arlington’s right fielder Morgan Westbrook and Utah Valley’s outfielder Angelique Mann and infielder Britney Moreno were also all-tournament team honorees.
