GCU SEPARATES AT THE TOP OF THE WAC STANDINGS
Grand Canyon took over sole possession of first place in the WAC baseball standings. The Lopes swept Seattle U in a three-game road series to extend their record to 16-5 (.762) in conference play. California Baptist and Abilene Christian were tied for second place at 14-7 (.667), with Tarleton State also on pace at 15-9 (.625).
CONFERENCE WIN STREAKS LIFT ACU, TARLETON STATE
Abilene Christian and Tarleton State each climbed up the WAC standings last weekend on the strength of matching four-game winning streaks in league contests. ACU swept Utah Tech on the road after winning the series finale against California Baptist on April 21, while Tarleton State swept Sacramento State on the road after a home series win the prior weekend against UTRGV.
CAMPER FOUND HIS WAY ON BASE FOR UVU

Burke Camper was named the WAC Player of the Week on April 29 after a stellar offensive performance for the Wolverines during a series victory at California Baptist. Camper batted .556 with four RBIs, a .778 on-base percentage, a 1.111 slugging percentage and eight runs scored across the three-game set. Camper was the conference leader in both slugging percentage (.743) and on-base percentage (.493) this season as of May 2.
GCU’S RICHARDSON EARNS FIRST WIN OF ‘24
Grand Canyon sophomore left-handed pitcher
Grant Richardson enjoyed his second straight solid start on the mound for the Lopes, picking up his first win of the season in a 7-0 victory at Seattle U on April 26. Richardson spun six shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking two Redhawks and striking out 10 batters on 85 pitches to earn the decision.
THE RACE TO MESA IS ON!
The race to finish top eight in the WAC baseball standings, ensuring a position in the 2024 University Credit Union WAC Baseball Tournament on May 21-25 at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona, is reaching a fever pitch. Four WAC squads are currently battling for the final two slots into the conference tournament, which will begin with two single-elimination games for seeds 5-8 on May 21.
