ARLINGTON, Texas – Defending champion Grand Canyon earned the top seed in the 2024 University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Tournament that will take place on May 8-11, hosted by Seattle U at Logan Field in Seattle, Washington.
Grand Canyon posted a 45-11 (23-3 WAC mark during the regular season. The Lopes capped the 2024 regular season with a three-game sweep at home against Abilene Christian to lock in the one seed. Grand Canyon earned one of two crucial byes into the quarterfinal round of play as the top overall seed.
California Baptist also advances to the March 9 quarterfinal round of the 2024 University Credit Union WAC Softball Tournament at Logan Field as the No. 2 seed with an overall record of 30-23 (17-7).
No. 6 UT Arlington will play No. 7 Tarleton State at 10 a.m. PT, while No. 5 Utah Tech will take on No. 8 Southern Utah at 1 p.m. PT to begin the opening round on May 8 and will compete to advance to the double elimination first round.
The winner of the UTA-TSU game will match up with No. 3 Utah Valley at 4 p.m. PT and the winner of the UTU-SUU contest will take on No. 4 Seattle U at 7 p.m. PT in first-round action on Wednesday, May 8.
Quarterfinals matchups will take place on Thursday, May 9, while semifinals action will commence on Friday, May 10. The championship game of the 2024 University Credit Union WAC Softball Tournament is set for May 11 at 1 p.m. PT, with the ‘if necessary’ game to follow at 4 p.m. PT. All games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. In addition, there will be an international-only feed at wacsports.com/watch.
