#UACFOOTBALL -- Following a pair of squads competing in Week 0 of the college football schedule, the United Athletic Conference announced its selections for Player of the Week honors with Tarleton State's Kayvon Britten (Offensive), Kasyus Kurns (Defensive) and Adrian Guzman (Specialist) joined by North Alabama's Gregory Reddick (Defensive) and Jalen Fletcher (Freshman) in taking home the 2024 debut accolades.

Britten, the UAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, did not disappoint in his senior season opener, finishing with 164 yards on 25 carries (6.6 yards per carry) in helping the Texans to a 26-23 victory over McNeese State. His rushing performance ranked as the second most yards during all of Week 0 play.

A senior defensive back for the Texans, Kurns recorded a pair of fumble recoveries including one for a 31-yard scoop-and-score in Saturday's victory. He notched six tackles including five solo stops and added one tackle for loss. Kurns' fumble recovery return TD was the first for TSU since 2021 and he became the first Texan player since 2014 with two takeaways and a touchdown in the same game.

Reddick, a redshirt senior defensive back, led the Lions defensive unit with a near career-high 12 stops against SEMO in the FCS Kickoff Classic. His double-digit tackle effort was just two shy of the FCS Classic record and included a pair of TFLs and a strip sack forced fumble that thwarted a red zone trip by the Redhawks.

Tarleton State's senior punter averaged 46.3 yards on six kicks during the game. Guzman blasted a pair of 50+ yard punts including a game best boot of 56 yards. He also twice pinned the Cowboys inside the 20-yard line with his punts. 

Fletcher, a true freshman from Trinity, Ala., made the most of his debut for UNA as the rookie netted 42 yards rushing on three carries (14.0 yards per carry) including a 26-yard rush on his first touch. Fletcher also hauled in one reception for 11 yards.
