WEEKLY HONORS: Game-winners and Season Bests Secure Player of the Week Selections

ACU, UCA and UNA produce Weekly Award Winners for UAC Week 3

#UACFOOTBALL -- The latest batch of United Athletic Conference (UAC) Football Weekly Awards were handed out on Monday by the league office with honors going to game-winning, season-topping and team-leading performances last Saturday. Abilene Christian produced a pair of honorees in Kaghen Roach (Defensive) and Ritse Vaes (Specialist) while Central Arkansas' ShunDerrick Powell (Offensive) and North Alabama's Josh Anglin (Freshman) rounded out the list. Anglin became the first repeat award winner this season.

Named the FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, senior running back Powell carried the ball 22 times for 173 yards (7.9 per rush) and a pair of touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 37 yards and a third TD. His performance sparked UCA to outscore APSU 42-14 over the final three quarters en route to the 45-17 win. Powell currently leads the nation in rushing with 475 yards and rushing yards per game (158.3) and is tied for top spot in rushing TDs (6).

Roach, a senior defensive lineman, was a key component for a solid ACU defense in Saturday's 24-22 victory versus Northern Colorado. He finished with 13 total tackles including five solos while collecting three TFLs and a sack for the Wildcats.

Senior kicker Vaes secured the Wildcats come-from-behind victory when he drilled a 54-yard field goal as time expired against UNC. He was a perfect 4-for-4 on his kicks in the game, connecting on all three of his PATs to go along with the game winner. The field goal matched the longest of his career.

For the second consecutive week, true-freshman linebacker Anglin shared the team lead for tackles with a double-digit outing. He finished with 10 stops against UT Martin including one TFL. Anglin, who ranks fifth this season in the UAC with 28 tackles, also broke up a pass and recorded a QB hurry.
