ARLINGTON, Texas – Grand Canyon’s Brenna Alderson and Destinee Duran-Wise and Abilene Christian’s Savanna Alba have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player, Defensive Player, and Goalkeeper of the Week, for the match week ending on Monday, Sept. 16.
 
Alderson, a senior midfielder, scored her first goal of the season in game-winning fashion as she broke the draw against Northern Arizona in the 82^nd minute of the match to secure the 1-0 win for Grand Canyon over the Lumberjacks in front of a record-breaking attendance of 3,475 fans in GCU Stadium.
 
Duran-Wise, a senior defender, has been a key component in the GCU defense this season and it was the same story this week for her and the Lopes. Duran-Wise logged 176 minutes, including a full 90 against NAU, and made multiple stops in the shutout wins against NAU and Nevada. Duran-Wise and the GCU back line have allowed only four goals all season.
 
Alba, a redshirt junior goalkeeper, made her first start of the season in Abilene Christian’s match versus North Texas and compiled eight saves and a shutout in a full 90-minutes against the Mean Green’s high-powered offense.
