SEATTLE U OFF TO BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY
The Redhawks have set their best eight-match start (5-1-2) in their D-I era with a 1-1 draw at Portland. Zoe Hopkins was the hero for Seattle U as she scored the equalizer, and her first collegiate goal, in the 88th minute of the match to secure the draw. Seattle U also extends their unbeaten streak to seven games.
FAITH WEBBER’S BRACE LIFTS UTAH VALLEY OVER GONZAGA
Utah Valley took down Gonzaga 3-0 in Spokane thanks to two first-half goals from Faith Webber and a seven-save performance from CJ Graham. This is Webber’s second brace of the season and the first since the thrilling season-opening victory at Michigan. Webber leads the WAC in shots (51), points (15), and goals (7).
GRAND CANYON BREAKS HOME ATTENDANCE RECORD
A roaring crowd of 3,475 Havocs swarmed GCU Stadium to cheer on the Lopes who took on Northern Arizona Thursday night, a record-breaking attendance for the GCU women’s soccer program. The crowd came to life in the 82nd minute of the match when Brenna Alderson kicked the game-winning goal against the Lumberjacks, getting the win and the Offensive Player of the Week honor.
WAC RPI RANKINGS
The NCAA released their first women’s soccer RPI rankings of the season on Monday and the WAC saw three of their teams inside the top 100. Through September 16th, Seattle U was ranked 72nd, Utah Valley was ranked 91st, and Grand Canyon was ranked 94th. Utah Tech just cracked the top 150 at 149th.
FINAL WEEK OF NON-CONFERENCE MATCHES
Week six will mark the final week of non-conference matches for the WAC. The final ranked opponent match for the conference will be at GCU Stadium when the Lopes host #7 Utah State on Sunday, September 22nd.
