2024 WAC VB Release Week 4

UT ARLINGTON OFF TO BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY
With their sweep against Saint Louis on Friday, September 13th, UT Arlington made history by starting off the season 8-0 for the first time in the program’s 51-year history. The Mavericks didn’t stop there as they defeated Weber State 3-2 to move to 9-0. Their undefeated run to begin the season finally came to an end on Tuesday when they fell to #23 TCU 0-3. Seven of UTA’s nine wins have been sweeps.
 
UVU’S CHISM AND WOODEN NATIONALLY RANKED
This week’s WAC Player and Setter of the Week, Bella Wooden and Evalyn Chism, find themselves ranked inside the top 10 of the NCAA’s national statistics. Wooden is fifth in the nation in total blocks (55) and eighth in blocks per set (1.57). Chism is fifth in the country in total assists (391) and eighth in assists per set (11.17). Both the Wolverines are ranked first in the WAC in their respective statistics.
 
ALLISON BRYANT BREAKS TARLETON STATE’S SINGLE MATCH KILLS RECORD
In their match against McNeese on Tuesday, Allison Bryant set a new career-high and a new Tarleton State D-I record of 27 kills. Bryant’s 27 kills made up 45% of the Texans total kills in the match. This was Bryant’s first 20+ kill game of the season and her sixth double-digit kill performance of the season. Bryant also compiled 13 digs to record her first double-double of the season.
 
BRIANNA FORD LEADS THE WAC IN KILLS AND POINTS
UT Arlington’s Brianna Ford continues to be a force to be reckoned with as she leads the conference in kills per set (4.38) and points per set (5.08). Ford is the only player in the league with more than five points per set. Ford is ranked 17th nationally in both statistics.
 
FINAL WEEK OF NON-CONFERENCE MATCHES
This upcoming week will wrap up the slate of non-conference matches of the season before conference games begin on Thursday, September 26th. Abilene Christian, California Baptist, and Tarleton State will host tournaments this week while the rest of the league will hit the road.
